The MRI at Lafayette General Medical Center features a patient handheld volume control with an AM/FM stereo, CD player, and Ipod/Iphone interface. This distracts even the most apprehensive patients by allowing them to be in control of their own environment. Additionally, the Audio Gain feature automatically raises and lowers the volume level for the patient based on the sound pressure level of the MRI.
Other facilities feature headphones with streaming online music. The patient can pick a favorite station/type of music to help them be more comfortable while the scan is performed.
St. Martin Hospital (SMH) provides many of the same advanced technologies to the residents of St. Martin Parish. In a new wing opened in May 2013, SMH expanded its imaging services with new CT and mammography rooms to round out its nuclear medicine, ultrasound and X-ray capabilities.
University Hospital & Clinics also provides a full spectrum of radiology and imaging services, including but not limited to: bone density, interventional radiology, mammography, CT, 3T MRI, vascular lab/ultrasound, echo, nuclear medicine and diagnostic radiology.
Need a CD of your imaging performed at LGMC? Call ahead to (337) 289-7970 and request a copy before your visit, and be ready to provide your name, date of birth and the doctor you are going to see. The patient is the only individual allowed to pick up the CD, please bring your picture ID with you.
LGI CT Scanner Accredited
Lafayette General Imaging (LGI) has received accreditation on its CT scanner by the American College of Radiology (ACR), demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the quality and safety of the CT exams performed. ACR Accreditation promotes overall quality in the practice of CT scanning. The program evaluates the qualifications of personnel, equipment performance, quality of clinical images, appropriateness of scan parameters/technique, scan performance characteristics and radiation dose estimates. The ACR program is directed by radiologists and medical physicists who have specific expertise in CT scanning and can best address the details of the procedure. ACR’s accreditation has the most robust radiation safety standards, and receiving accreditation from them demonstrates that LGI has paid attention to the fundamental details.
