Childbirth and Parenting Education Series

LGMC's Women & Children's services offer a variety of educational classes and support groups ranging from labor & delivery process to newborn care, as well as breastfeeding support for the working mother and a Parents of Multiples Support Group. To register, click on a date below or view our online event calendar, select the date you wish to attend and register online using the quick and easy form provided. Labor & Delivery Process & Cesarean Childbirth

Labor & Delivery Process discusses admission, labor and anesthesia options. A birth film is shown. The accompanying class on Cesarean Childbirth covers the reasons for a Cesarean birth and includes a video of Cesarean deliveries and postpartum care of mom and her newborn. It is recommended that this class be taken in the third trimester of pregnancy. This class is held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in Owen Auditorium, located on the first floor of LGMC, across from the Boulevard Bistro. The class is free of charge, but pre-registration is required to attend.

Newborn Care

Discuss characteristics of the newborn, feeding and basic care needs of infants, and techniques parents can use to maximize sensory potential of their newborns. This class is held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in Owen Auditorium, located on the first floor of LGMC, across from the Boulevard Bistro. The class is free of charge, but pre-registration is required to attend.

Breastfeeding Your Infant

Preparation for breastfeeding, techniques and potential concerns. This class is held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in Owen Auditorium, located on the first floor of LGMC, across from the Boulevard Bistro. The class is free of charge, but pre-registration is required to attend.

Breastfeeding Support for the Working Mother

This class is for pregnant moms who plan to combine working and breastfeeding, as well as moms who are currently working and breastfeeding. We will discuss ways to bring in a good milk supply, pumping at your workplace, and how to maintain the breastfeeding relationship with your baby. This class is held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in Owen Auditorium, located on the first floor of LGMC, across from the Boulevard Bistro. The class is free of charge, but pre-registration is required to attend.

Children's Prenatal Class for "Big Brothers and Big Sisters"

This prenatal class discusses care for a newborn, feeding, diapering and adjusting to a new family member. The class will be held at LGMC in the 2nd floor Pavilion Classroom beginning at 6 pm. It is free of charge but pre-registration is required.

Infant CPR

Natural Childbirth: A Brief Overview

We review stages and phases of labor with special emphasis on different natural methods for coping with labor. It is recommended that the L&D Process class be taken prior to this one. The class will be held at LGMC in the 2nd floor Pavilion Classroom beginning at 6 pm. It is free of charge but pre-registration is required.

Parents of Multiples Support Group

Support group for parents of multiples of all ages, including those pregnant with multiples.  This group will focus on the unique joys and challenges that come with a multiple pregnancy and raising twins, triplets, and more! 

The class will be held at LGMC in the 2nd floor Pavilion Classroom beginning at 6 pm. It is free of charge but pre-registration is required. We will contact you if the class is full; otherwise, consider the email following completion of your registration as confirmation.
