Where Technology Meets Know-How

At Lafayette General, we don't just offer the most advanced technology available in southwest Louisiana. We combine the machinery with the top medical experts, so the equipment provides meaningful patient benefits and life-saving results.

CyberKnife - A New Ray to Fight Cancer

CyberKnife® treatment is a radiosurgical procedure that utilizes a computer-controlled robot to target intense beams of radiation at tumors previously considered inoperable. The CyberKnife System is so precise because it uses advanced image-guidance software and x-ray cameras to track the tumor's position, even adjusting for the slight movements of a patient's breathing. Though this treatment is called radiosurgery, there is no incision, no pain, no anesthesia and no recovery time.

da Vinci - The Hands of a Surgeon

The da Vinci® Surgical System is an innovative way to perform certain laparoscopic procedures using a sophisticated robot. Physicians operate via a console that provides a 3-D view within the body, while the robotic arms translate the surgeon's every hand, wrist and finger movements to the tiny laparoscopic instruments. For prostatectomies, hysterectomies, and mitral valve repair, the da Vinci provides patients with many benefits, including reduced trauma to the body, tiny 1-2 cm incisions, less risk of infection, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery times.
