We introduced Acadiana's first hospital-based acute pulmonary
care unit in 1999, since having become nationally accredited in
that service. Nurses in the unit each have more than 80 hours
of specialized training under the direction of pulmonary physicians,
respiratory therapists and critical care nurses. We also have
a
Pulmonary Rehab program
to help patients with various pulmonary disorders improve their
overall quality of life. We also offer rehabilitation and physical
medicine - including physical, occupational and speech therapy.
The Mental Health Unit offers its patients the advantage
of comprehensive care in the security of a full-service medical
facility. We are capable of healing patients with both psychiatric
and medical needs. Treatment plans are individually structured by
a team of psychiatrists and psychologists, nurses, social workers,
and occupational, and physical therapists working with the patient's
own physician. Patients and their families also find that admission
to LGMC minimizes privacy issues associated with psychiatric treatment.
Our Emergency Department provides the best in trauma
and urgent care for all ages and conditions. We also have,
thorough oversight of specially trained physicians, Hyperbaric
Oxygen (HBO) Therapy and a full Wound
Care Center for treatment of such disorders as carbon monoxide
poisoning, crush injuries, decompression sickness, burns, skin grafts,
bone infections, gangrene, radiation tissue damage and diabetic
wounds and ulcers.
