LGMC's fully equipped Children’s Center is unmatched in Acadiana, offering care for a wide range of diagnoses. While that's been the case for the dozens of years we've offered Children's Services, it's ever truer now on the heels of a concentrated effort by General to expand pediatric sub specialty services in the community over the past year and a half. We proudly claim a good bit of credit for having sought out and secured sub specialists for this community in pediatric cardiology, pulmonary medicine, neurosurgery, general surgery and more.

We provide preventive medicine, diagnoses, specialty surgeries and follow-up care on both inpatient and outpatient bases for children of all ages. Parents value the specialized care we provide in our Level III Neonatal ICU and Level II Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Acadiana’s first and the most comprehensive of their kind. Many of our pediatric nurses are certified in pediatric care. We've adopted an entire floor and several areas of the hospital to meet the special needs of children. Even our therapists and technicians have pediatric training. In fact, everything from the private room and decor to our own kid's menu is designed to make your child feel more important and comfortable while in our care. We go the extra mile in assuring that children and parents understand pediatric procedures before, during and after surgeries.

LGMC expanded the Emergency Room services staffing with pediatricians in the evenings and on weekends. Although LGMC has always been the only area hospital equipped to handle both serious trauma and everyday illnesses, the addition of pediatricians add another level of comfort to both parents and their doctors.
