University Hospital & Clinics
University Hospital & Clinics (UHC) is a full-service, acute care hospital that serves Acadiana as its primary graduate medical education center by training residents and fellows, cultivating physicians for the future. The hospital is licensed for 116 beds and is Acadiana’s largest provider of primary care and specialist appointments for patients that have Medicaid or are underinsured. Click here
for information on our efforts to help with Medicaid expansion and for appointments.
The State of Louisiana is considering charging co-pays for Medicaid patients who utilize the ER for non-emergency care.
UHC offers a walk-in Urgent Care Clinic
that accepts Medicaid, open Monday – Friday, 5 - 9 p.m., and Saturday – Sunday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. No appointments necessary for the Urgent Care Clinic.
Primary Care and Urgent Care are faster and less expensive than going to the ER. UHC offers more primary care appointments in order to deter unnecessary trips to the ER. Call 261-6500
to schedule your Primary Care appointment.
