SURGERY

AKMH’s surgical department’s primary focus is to provide not only our patients with the best possible care, but also our patients’ families. Because our patients are the “center of the wheel,” we believe in treating our patients holistically, as we try to meet each and every cultural, ethnic, and religious need that may arise. In accordance with our hospital’s motto “Serving you better because WE CARE,” our goal is to continuously provide excellent, personalized surgical care.

Our Department consists of two operating rooms as well as a recovery room. Our team performs both inpatient and outpatient services that include general, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic procedures. Here at AKMH, we use high definition equipment while performing our laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures. A few of these services include cholecystectomies, appendectomies, colonoscopies and EGDs.

Our surgical team is made up of experienced surgeons, an anesthesiologist, certified registered nurse anesthetists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, scrub techs and an orderly. Each member of this team plays a valuable role in enhancing our patients’ and family members’ perioperative experience. When the time arises, our ancillary departments assist in providing a higher level of surgical care by aiding our physicians with pathological services, C-arm/radiological services, as well as nucleonic services.

Our Surgery Department goes above and beyond maintaining surgery equipment with cleanliness and sterilization. We continue to have a functioning Ethylene Oxide sterilizer, a steam Autoclave sterilizer, a Medivator and a Scope Buddy, which provides optimum cleansing for our colonoscopy and EGD procedures. Due to technological advances, our patients’ length of stay and recovery time has significantly decreased over the years.

AKMH’s surgical staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We continue to stay personal, committed and convenient.
