Kevin R. Hargrave, M.D., Medical Director of Neuroscience Center of Acadiana at Lafayette General and Co-Medical Director of Sleep Center of Acadiana at Lafayette General, recently received the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS) Neuroimaging Certification. Only 26 physicians in the entire country passed the most recent exam, demonstrating expert knowledge in their subsequent areas. Dr. Hargrave now holds the distinction of being the only physician in Acadiana, and one of six in the entire state, to be considered a UCNS neuroimaging Diplomate. While there are over 16,000 neurologists currently practicing in the U.S., only 206 are physician Diplomates certified in Neuroimaging.

The demand for human donor breast milk in hospital neonatal intensive care units (NICU) continues to rise across the country. Susan G. Komen Acadiana has awarded two grants to Lafayette General Foundation (LGF) for St. Martin Hospital (SMH) in Breaux Bridge, and University Hospital & Clinics (UHC) in Lafayette, totaling $119,643.00. The grants from Komen Acadiana to LGF will support screenings, mammograms, patient education and patient navigation services. The aim of the grant is to impact women who are uninsured or underinsured.
