Community Outreach

Lafayette General Medical Center maintains a proactive approach to education and wellness in our community. Annually, LGMC provides a multitude of seminars aimed at educating the public on preventative care and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Some of these activities and programs include:

  • LGMC Center on Aging administered 472 flu shots to older adults.
  • LGMC administered 1,121 free flu shots to employees at a cost of $10,950.
  • Donated over $9,000 in diagnostic imaging as part of a partnership with the Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic.
  • Administered over 30 free peripheral vascular disease – ultrasound screenings.
  • Provided over 50 free cholesterol/blood glucose screen tests, in conjunction with several informational seminars during Heart Month.
  • Obstetrics department coordinates 3 – 4 free events monthly for new families on topics like newborn care, breastfeeding and sibling interaction. These events serve approximately 75 people per month. 
  • LGMC staff administered approximately 150 immunizations to children with our quarterly participation in the Shots for Tots program.
  • Staffed free health booths including AHA Go Red for Women, American Diabetes Association Annual 5K Walk, Susan G Komen’s Race for the Cure, NAMI walk and the Alzheimer’s Association.
