St. Martin Hospital Wound Care Center Now Open

St. Martin Hospital (SMH) held a ribbon-cutting on May 3 for their Wound Care Center, the first one in St. Martin Parish. SMH now offers advanced wound care services under internationally-acclaimed wound care expert, Kerry T. Thibodeaux, M.D., FACS., Board Certified General Surgeon, Vascular Surgeon and Wound Care Specialist to its medical staff.

SMH opened the Wound Care Clinic in response to patients’ needs, continuing the commitment to bringing quality care close to home. Ribbon-cutting special guests included Congressman Clay Higgins, Breaux Bridge Area Chamber Tina Begnaud, Parish President Chester Cedars, SMH Board Member Burton Dupuis and Brenda Hobbs, Alderman of District A.

The event was great success with many community residences in attendance showing their support. Even patients expressed their enthusiasm for this service being closer to home.

Dr. Thibodeaux, a native of St. Martinville, a graduate of University of Louisiana at Lafayette and of Louisiana State University (LSU) Medical School in New Orleans. During his time at LSU, he was the Chief Resident and received a grant to study the effects of treatments to wounds, which led to his interest of his specialty.

He will be providing state-of-the-art wound care services at St. Martin Hospital. Dr. Thibodeaux will incorporate a multidisciplinary protocol to all wound healing from the most conventional wound care therapy to debridement’s with advanced specialty dressings and compression therapy.  He will use advanced skin tissue products to combat hard to heal wounds.

Dr. Thibodeaux is trained in Wound Care services and is diligent in becoming educated in the latest wound care procedures and products. SMH ensures that each patient receives the best, state of the art wound care services.

He will work closely with other SMH staff and the patient’s primary care physician on every aspect of their wound care needs. SMH will care for each patient as individuals from their nutritional status to being their personal support system during treatment and make certain their progress is in conjunction with their physician’s orders.
