Sam Olivier - Respiratory Therapist

2/4/2015

On the night of November 19, 2014, Respiratory Therapist Sam Olivier was on his way home in his pick-up truck. While traveling on the highway, he witnessed a vehicular accident – the driver of a semi-trailer truck merging into traffic had failed to see a car in his blind spot, and lost control. Upon seeing the accident and being the first to arrive, Sam immediately stopped his truck and went to the aid of the accident victim.

Meanwhile, Sam’s truck ended up being struck by another vehicle crashing onto the scene. Sam provided much-needed medical help until Acadian Ambulance arrived. He was heroic in his effort to keep the critical patient calm and stable until help could get there for transport to Lafayette General Medical Center. It’s instances like Sam’s that prove that helping people is not just a job, but who we are.
