Mary Neustrom, an Occupational Therapist, was working with a patient who had recently been in two other facilities and lost many personal belongings in the transfer. Each time he asked about them, he was either told he could pick them up after his discharge, or that he could replace them at discharge.
Mary spent her entire lunch break to make over 10 phone calls to both facilities to track down his personal items and arranged to have a hospital courier deliver them to the patient's room that evening. If the courier was not available, Mary had planned to go get his belongings herself. Among the items secured for the patient were his wallet, hearing aids and custom shoes that he needed to walk.
What a huge difference Mary made to this man! Now he can thrive, not just survive!
