LGMC Wins Consumer Choice Award

10/28/2013

LINCOLN, NE – Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) was named a 2013/2014 Consumer Choice Award winner by National Research Corporation, as announced in the Oct. 21 issue of Modern Healthcare magazine. The annual award identifies hospitals across the U.S. that health care consumers choose as having the highest quality and image. This is the ninth-consecutive Consumer Choice Award for LGMC.

Winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in the company’s Market Insights Survey. National Research Corporation surveys over 270,000 households in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia. Hospitals named by consumers are analyzed and ranked based on Core Based Statistical Areas defined by the U.S. Census Bureau, with winning facilities being ranked the highest.

LGMC’s Consumer Choice Award follows determined efforts by the hospital to elevate the quality and scope of care available to all of Acadiana. This helped the hospital garner "Center of Excellence” status in Neuroscience and in Minimally Invasive Gynecology. LGMC is also an Advanced Certified Primary Stroke Center, a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accredited Center, a Commission on Cancer Accredited Cancer Program and one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience by WomenCertified®.

"Patients are central to all of our efforts, services and our overall philosophy of care,” says LGMC CEO Patrick W. Gandy, Jr. "Winning a consumer-driven award is truly an honor. To win this one repeatedly only strengthens our resolve to provide the best care possible and encourages our staff to continue achieving the highest standards.”

National Research Corporation is hailed as one of the largest patient satisfaction firms in the U.S. They are dedicated to representing the true voice of patients and other health care stakeholders.

"We are thrilled to offer this annual award because we understand how important the role of reputation is in health care consumer decision making,” says Susan L. Henricks, President and CEO at National Research. "These winners have done an outstanding job of representing their organizations in terms of high quality care, improvement initiatives and positive consumer perceptions and experiences. The consumers have spoken. And, we congratulate the winning hospitals in receiving this honor.”
