LGMC Welcomes New Teaching Physician


Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) welcomes Stephen C. Coleman, D.O., to its staff as a new teaching physician. Dr. Coleman will help teach and train residents in OB/GYN medicine. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Coleman earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, IA. He completed his internship at Des Moines General Hospital and his residency at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL.

Lafayette General continues to expand the teaching capacities of LGMC and University Hospital & Clinics, the only two Major Teaching Hospitals in Acadiana. Dr. Coleman offers a wealth of experience to his understudies. He served previously at Christus Schumpert Hospital and Minden Medical Center in Louisiana and as Chief of Staff at Troy Regional Medical Center in Alabama, where he was Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Associations of Dr. Coleman include Diplomat of the American National Board of Medical Examiners, American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Medical Association, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy, Senior Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Louisiana State Medical Society.
