LGMC to celebrate "Donate Life Month" in April

On April 4 at 11 a.m., Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA), Southern Eye Bank (SEB) and Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) will honor local heroes who have given life and sight through organ, tissue and cornea donation. An awards ceremony will take place in LGMC’s main lobby, 1214 Coolidge Street, followed by a Donate Life Louisiana flag raising in front of the hospital.

LGMC will be presented with awards from both LOPA and SEB, and the family of organ donor Ryan Viator will share their experience with saying "yes” to donation. The award ceremony will be followed by a flag raising in front of the hospital to commemorate our many heroes throughout Acadiana. The Donate Life Louisiana flag will be raised by Ryan’s family, along with LGMC staff, and will fly the entire month of April in an effort to raise awareness about the crucial need for organs, tissues and corneas for transplant.

We invite you to join us as we kick off National Donate Life Month honoring our hometown heroes who have given the ultimate gift – the gift of life. For more information about the ceremony at Lafayette General, please contact Suzanna Morton by calling (256) 724-2255 or emailing smorton@lopa.org.
