LGMC Pharmacy earns 'Site of the Year' award

The Pharmacy Department at Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) landed a prestigious "Site of the Year” award from Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) for the South Central Region. The 2013 Site of the Year award was presented to Shane Domingue, pharmacy director at LGMC. CPS is the leading pharmacy services provider to hospitals and integrated health systems in the nation.

CPS works on pharmacy cost containment, patient safety and regulatory compliance. They identify pharmacy improvement strategies and lead the implementation process to ensure successful results. They serve more than 300 clients through the United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands to improve operational and financial performance.

LGMC’s pharmacy department earned its recognition for scoring at least 85% or better in an Operations Audit, for outstanding financial performance by meeting or exceeding its budget, superior scores on The Joint Commission survey, as well as clinical success and maintaining good relationships with hospital administration.

"The model CPS leader strives to achieve while providing real value to those around them. They conduct themselves with integrity, accountability and always seem to manage their success while giving credit to others,” says Shawn Burrow, Regional Vice President for CPS. "I see each of these character traits in Mr. Domingue. He has been a true agent of change as the pharmacy department re-engineered itself in 2012. I am very appreciative of his dedication to the hospital and its mission of patient care.”

The South Central Region is comprised of medium- to large-sized, acute care hospitals in Texas, Louisiana, Georgia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is characterized by broad-based, diverse patient care services.

CPS serves all hospital segments, including acute care, behavioral health, LTAC and other specialty facilities. The company’s services include every combination of pharmacy operations, from consulting to complete pharmacy management options.
