LGMC Orthopedic Team Grows in Size, Stature
The orthopedic team at Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) is expanding. Three physicians have been added, bolstering a staff already known for providing award-winning care.
Chief of Orthopedics at University Hospital & Clinics Michael Schutte, M.D., primary orthopedic traumatologist Blaine Walton, M.D., and orthopedic sports medicine surgeon Jeffrey Witty, M.D., are now practicing at the Acadiana Orthopedic Center at Lafayette General, located at 1448 South College Road.
These physicians will work at LGMC in congruence with other LGMC orthopedic surgeons John Schutte, M.D., Scott Yerger, M.D., J. Lee Leonard, M.D., Stanley Foster, M.D., Angela Mayeux-Hebert, M.D., and Adam Kennedy, M.D.
Offering a background in sports medicine, physical rehabilitation and traumatology, Dr. Michael Schutte has decades of experience. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1979. He has prior experience at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH, and as a long-time orthopedic surgeon at Northern Rockies Orthopedics in Missoula, MT.
Dr. Walton brings a distinguished educational pedigree, having earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He’s worked as team physician at McNeese State University and with athletes at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthpaedic Center in Jackson, MS. His well-rounded background makes him a wise choice for orthopedic patients of any age.
Dr. Witty also brings a host of specialized skills. After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, MS, he has performed team coverage of Jackson (MS) Public Schools, Brother Martin High School, Crescent City High School, Tulane University Football, and LSU’s gymnastics and football teams.
