LGMC named "Best Hospital” in readership survey

Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) enjoyed a pat on the back by its customers as it was voted "Best Hospital” in The Times of Acadiana 2013 readership poll. This marked the eighth time since 2005 that the hospital landed the top spot in the annual survey. Voters also named LGMC "Best Emergency Room,” a place it has occupied every year since 2006.

LGMC was a runner-up in the categories of "Best Cancer Care,” "Best Place to Have a Baby” and "Best Walk-in/Urgent Care.”

The Times reported that 850,000 finalist votes were cast for businesses and individuals in 162 categories in this year’s survey. The winners were announced at a red-carpet event Monday night at City Club in River Ranch.

"We continue our efforts to build a regional health system that not only reaches out across Acadiana, but provides top-quality care,” says Lafayette General Health President/CEO David L. Callecod, FACHE. "Receiving this kind of feedback from our audience motivates us to maintain a high level of excellence.”

LGMC CEO Patrick Gandy expressed his gratitude for the hospital’s public support. "We strive to achieve excellence in outcomes, and this is an affirmation of that work,” he says. "We’d like to congratulate our hospital staff for their amazing work.”
