LGMC, LGSH Receive 2014 Press Ganey Excellence Awards

Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) and Lafayette General Surgical Hospital (LGSH) are proud to announce that they each have been named 2014 winners of two prestigious awards from Press Ganey Associates, Inc. The two hospitals each won the 2014 Guardian of Excellence Award and 2014 Beacon of Excellence Award for Patient Experience. The awards recognize the nation’s top-performing health care facilities that have consistently achieved the 95th percentile in patient experience, and have consistently maintained a high level of excellence for three consecutive years.

The Beacon of Excellence recognition is awarded to three top-performing organizations by category. LGMC and LGSH were chosen in their respective categories determined by their demographic profiles. The top three performers in each category are based on their overall composite mean scores for a three-year award period, using data from May 2011 to April 2014. Only 45 organizations won the award nationwide, and Lafayette is now home to two of them.

The Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally recognized symbol of achievement in the health care industry. It honors those who consistently sustain performance in the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients during the performance year.

Press Ganey is the nation’s leading health care performance improvement company and partners with more than 11,000 health care facilities, including more than half of all U.S. hospitals, to reduce suffering and improve the patient experience.

According to Lafayette General Health President David L. Callecod, FACHE, the awards represent important recognition from the industry leader in measuring, understanding and improving the patient experience.

“We continue to work hard at making the patient experience at our facilities the best they can be,” says Callecod. “What this shows is that we have consistently achieved a high level, even amongst the very best in the nation,” he says.

LGMC CEO Patrick W. Gandy and LGSH Administrator Carrie Templeton accepted the awards from Press Ganey for each of their respective facilities.

“We are proud to partner with Lafayette General,” says Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey, who announced the award winners at the company’s annual conference Tuesday, Nov. 4, in Orlando, FL. “This award is a testament to Lafayette General’s unwavering commitment to deliver more patient-centered care. The exemplary performance of Lafayette General Medical Center and Lafayette General Surgical Hospital is truly setting the industry standard, benefiting patients and advancing the quality of care for all of Acadiana.”
