Lafayette General names CEO for UMC

Lafayette General is pleased to announce that Jared L. Stark has been named Chief Executive Officer of University Medical Center starting June 24.


Stark will preside over the transition in management of University Medical Center (UMC) from LSU Health Sciences to Lafayette General Health. Stark brings an impressive background in healthcare management, including most recently transforming a specialty hospital to a full-service community hospital. He will be responsible for implementing the exemplary outcome-based practices established at Lafayette General Medical Center to UMC.

An Indiana native, Stark served previously as Executive Director of Franciscan St. Francis Health in Mooresville, Ind., a post he held for five years. Stark oversaw the opening of the emergency room, growth of inpatient services and the development of a new outpatient facility in Mooresville, as well as a new hospital in Carmel, Ind.

Stark earned his bachelor’s degree from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., and his Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and received the prestigious Early Career Professional Regent’s Award in 2011, awarded to a hospital administrator under 40 years old who demonstrated significant accomplishments in the healthcare field.
