Ms. Shirley Lacobie’s daughter, Holly, was in the Emergency Department (ED) at LGMC. During the ED visit, the doctor determined that Holly needed an outpatient procedure, which was also done at LGMC. The result of that outpatient procedure revealed Holly needed to follow up with a general surgeon. But, Holly’s insurance plan limited the places she would be accepted as a patient. Ms. Lacobie told this to April Jeffery with LGMC’s Patient Access Department and April took the time to search for a surgeon that would take Holly’s insurance. When Ms. Lacobie heard back from April, she was shocked that a complete stranger would take the time to help. She commented that we live in a society where people are quick to do just what they need to do, and that is it. Ms. Lacobie says that April is an angel and was sweet and kind to her in her time of need. She said what had been uncertain and frustrating times for her and her daughter were put aside when a simple act of kindness, by April, changed everything.
