Lafayette General Health features two of Acadiana’s premier teaching hospitals, University Health & Clinics and Lafayette General Medical Center.
The Bariatric Surgery Department at Lafayette General Medical Center is accredited as a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
Cancer Center of Acadiana spans across South Louisiana, bringing closer to home world renowned cancer treatments normally found at medical centers in Houston and New Orleans. The American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (CoC) granted a 3-year accreditation to CCA.
Lafayette General’s Breast Center is a designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. Accreditations by the American College of Radiology include Breast MRI, Breast Ultrasound, Commuted Tomography (CT), Mammography, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Stereotactic Biopsy.
After undergoing an on-site evaluation and demonstrating compliance with nationally developed standards for stroke care, Lafayette General Medical Center earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval™ for certification as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.
The neuroscience program at Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) attained Center of Excellence status in 2012 based on the results of a Neuroscience Center of Excellence® survey.

LGMC Offering Latest Treatment for Liver Cancer

Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) is now offering an innovative treatment for liver cancer from an additional resource you wouldn’t normally associate with cancer. Interventional Radiologist William Mullen, M.D., provides TheraSphere® Treatment, one of the more advanced procedures available anywhere in the fight against liver cancer.


SMH Lands Grand Prize in Decorating Contest

The first day of school in St. Martin Parish on August 10 was welcomed with the “Paint the Town Blue and Gold” decorating contest in a show of support for St. Bernard School (SBS). On Wednesday, August 17, SBS announced that St. Martin Hospital (SMH) was the Grand Prize winner of the decorating contest.
